Tier 2: Rockets & the Meteorite Shower

From the AvalonEarth Wiki

The tier-2 endgame is a piece-by-piece rocket pointed at a second world: the Meteorite Shower. The whole feature is gated behind both the per-server toggle (set by staff) and the tier-2 investigation tree (set by your town).

Tier 2 Rocket assembly

Tier 2 rockets are not a single craftable item. They are built on a Tier 2 Launch Pad by placing five parts in sequence, each of which is its own crafted item:

  1. Tier 2 Rocket — Lower
  2. Tier 2 Rocket — Middle
  3. Tier 2 Rocket — Upper
  4. Tier 2 Rocket — Booster
  5. Tier 2 Rocket — Booster

Place them in order on an idle Tier 2 Launch Pad. Each placement spawns the matching section of the rocket display model. Once both boosters are in place, the rocket is complete and you can board it like a tier-1 rocket (with fuel piped into the pad, see How to get there). See the Recipes page for each part.

You cannot board the rocket if a destination is not set on the Command Station.

To craft the parts, your town must investigate each part separately. The Booster has a longer research time than the lower/middle/upper parts.

The Meteorite Shower destination

The Meteorite Shower is a separate world. It is only reachable while its window is open. Windows alternate on a server-wide timer:

  • When the window is closed, the meteorite icon does not appear in the Command Station's destination picker. Closed windows last roughly 10–30 minutes (configurable).
  • When the window opens, the server broadcasts a chat message and a sound, and the meteorite icon appears in a fixed (randomly chosen) slot of the destination GUI. Open windows last roughly 2–5 minutes (configurable).
  • When the window closes again, the world is wiped: any players inside are evacuated back to the Moon return point, and the world's chunks are regenerated with a new layout for the next opening.

To go there:

  • Have a fully assembled Tier 2 Rocket on a Launch Pad.
  • Open the Command Station GUI, click Destination, and pick the Meteorite Shower icon while the window is open.
  • Board and launch the rocket as usual.

The Meteorite Shower world

The meteorite world has no ground. It is a pure void scattered with floating geometric "asteroid" islands:

  • Each island is a perfect sphere, cube or octahedron of rock.
  • Islands are sprinkled deterministically per-region from the current window's plan seed. Each new opening rolls a new seed, so layouts never repeat.
  • A guaranteed origin island sits at (0, configured-y, 0) so you always have a place to land.
  • The world is square-bordered (configurable, default 4000 blocks).
  • There is no day/night cycle, no weather and no mob spawning; difficulty is hard.

Island contents:

  • Body blocks (stone-family: stone, deepslate, blackstone, tuff).
  • Embedded ore veins with configurable rates: iron, copper, gold, redstone, lapis, diamond, emerald and (rarely) ancient debris.
  • A configurable fraction of body blocks are replaced by Meteorite Rocks — a special "rock skin" head block that, when mined, drops the Meteorite Rock item.

What to do there: mine ore and Meteorite Rocks while the window is open.

Watch the timer. When the window closes you are teleported out and the world is regenerated, so anything you leave behind is lost.

Meteorite Rocks are the ingredient for the Tier 2 Trade Server upgrade.
